Little swimmer, any suggestions?

MY little man (almost 3) was glued to the TV during the water sports of the olympics. His normal attention span is 3-5 min for the TV and he’s done.

I feel that there is never a “too young” when it comes to water safety and learning how to swim. There is a even a Water Babies program for infants and toddlers. The you tube sources are links to 2 videos that are absolutely astounding. They even make equipment for kids.

You want your son to be comfortable both mentally and physically while he is in the water. As far as the floatie. I don’t recall any instances where kids actually enjoyed being in a floatie or wearing water wings. Children’s shortie wetsuits can help out a bit in that department. The shortie wetsuits are made of a 2 or 3 mm neoprene rubber which serves two purposes. The first is thermal insulation. A human loses body heat in water 20 times faster than they do in air. Their average body temperature is about 98.6 degrees. Pool temperatures can be 20 or more degrees colder than the body’s normal temperature. The wetsuits are designed to allow a thin layer of water to get in between the suit and the skin. The body heats up that thin layer rather than trying to heat up the entire pool.
The shortie also adds a bit to your child’s buoyancy. Not as much as the floatie though.
When purchasing a kid’s shortie, don’t get one that the child will “grow into” because the benefits will not be realized until the child actually does grow into it.
