What should I expect when I take the life guarding test?

I am going to take the lifeguard certificate test in Ontario and I want to know what to expect. I was a swimmer and a waterpolo player, so I have water sport experience. Besides CPR and safety, what I am expected to do in the way of swimming and endurance? I want to work at a water park.

Thanks :D

For the Lifesaving society courses (Canada):
Bronze medallion: 500m free in 15 mins and 6×25 meters head out of water
Bronze Cross: 600m free in 18 mins and 2x6x25 meters head out of water, transporting a victim with spine problems 20m.
National lifeguard (pool): Getting a brick out of water and transporting it 5 m.
National lifeguard (aquatic park): You probably wont have to do much swimming there, it’s mainly spine problems.

You have to finish Bronze medallion, Bronze cross and First aid before doing nationals. If you play water polo, you should have absolutely no problem.

I’m not exactly sure what you mean by “lifeguard certificate”. If did you course you should be aware of what to expect. You can ask your monitor. I know nothing about the Red Cross lifeguard course so I can’t help you if that’s what you took.
