All about Birmingham
So you’re visiting Birmingham but don’t know where to go or what to see? There is so much to do in this Midlands city that you’ll be spoiled for choice! The people are also famously friendly in this central hub that you’ll feel at home in no time at all in this popular tourist destination. If you want to visit the city you can really make a break of it with a range of museums, theatres, arts, sports, parks and events just waiting for you.
If it’s culture you’re after, you might want to spend a day at the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, which is a wonderfully well-stocked museum with a trove of treasures from local jewellery heritage to Jacobean history. Alternatively, you can visit the Museum of the Jewellery Quarter for more in depth knowledge of the local trade. There is also the Sarehole Mill, which is one of the surviving water mills from Birmingham’s industrial history. Visitors can also go and walk about the grounds of a 700 year-old castle in Weoley Castle, which is a famous moated castle in the city.
The Symphony Hall is an obvious choice for music lovers and there is also the Barber Institute of Fine Art and the Ikon Gallery for art admirers. Theatre goers can book seats to see national tours of popular theatre productions and musicals at locations such as the Birmingham Hippodrome, the Repertory Theatre, the Crescent Theatre or the Old Rep Theatre on Station Street.
Those working at a Birmingham office will find some of the finest local amenities such as the Bull Ring shopping centre on their doorstep and incredible transport connections such as New Street Station just nearby.
Tourist centres in the city are happy to give advice on the events and festivals that are happening in the internationally renowned city of culture.
