How to convince my coach?
Hi,
I am a second year rower. Last season (my novice season) I rowed a single heaps of times, but only raced it once, and came second. I also raced mostly doubles and quads last season, raced a four once, but never an eight.
This year I have a new coach, but he thinks that I should row fours and quads, so hasn’t put me in a single so far. However, I really want to race a single at nationals in six months, but if I don’t get any training time, this will be hard.
How do I bring it up with my coach that I think it would be better for me to row smaller boats than fours and eights? He does not see it at the moment, for example last training we were taking out a quad and he put me in as coxwain (I am 5’7 and 120lbs so can be a cox) rather than putting me in a single, even though the water was perfect.
What do I do? I really want to do well in my single!
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
