Help Please: My Temporary PADI license Expired before I go it (it seems no permanent one coming anytime soon)?

So I was finally able to get a PADI temporary diver license (I did my course at the end of July). But it expired on the 8th. I have no clue when I will get the actual license and I’m leaving on Friday on an extended trip with Scuba Diving as the main focus.

I don’t know what to do and can’t cancel this trip or change the diving focus. I just want to get there and in the water without any drama.So basically does anyone know if it will be ok for me to just have the temporary license for now?

Again I have no idea how long it will be to get the real one I spent the last week trying to get a temporary one.

Opps, I’m not actually going to a resort.
I didn’t do it through a dive shop. The guy drives across Canada to spots that don’t have access to a shop.

Whats a diver number? I have a faxed version of my temp license and it has the instructor number on it but not any diver license for me:s

I’d be bugging the dive shop you did your training with for starters. At the very least make sure they submitted your paperwork. If they didn’t get them to issue another temp card. If they have, also bug them to issue one to avoid some inconvenience later at your destination.
If you can’t get a card out of them but they have filed your paperwork then you ought to have no worries. You’re in the system and you can be found pretty easily by your destination dive shop for your charters or rental gear. Bring that expired temp card with you, it can still work to your favor since it does have your diver # on it. The expiry date will be ignored usually, if the temp card was issued within the last year. If the dive shop at the destination is going to go by the rule book they can still access your information, even without that temp card and diver # ( although it helps to have it).
If you’re going to use a charter outfit or dive shop that has internet access and they have qualified Padi Pros on hand, those Pros can log into the PADI database and pull up your file. Even your digital picture that was taken of you that was for your permanent card will be in there to verify who you are. You’ll just need to give them your personal details such as your name and address or present that expired temp card to get the ball rolling. They’ll be able to retrieve your PADI number and all the pertinent details they need. They’ll probably give you a new temp card as well to hold you over until your permanent one arrives.
Edit: Just dug out my old Temp card from my first log book. My # is penned in on it, although there is no space set aside for it. It matters not, if that Instructor was indeed certified as such, the destination shop can look up his certs and as long as the guy filed his paperwork you’re still good to go. If he didn’t or was a bogus instructor using stolen course materials…that’s a different story. I’d be checking with PADI now. It’s not hard to do and you’d have an answer right away, probably faster than you asking this in here. Just include all the details of the course such as date, Instructor name and #. I have to wonder why this guy had to fax you a copy of your temp card. He should have had a supply of them on hand.
