How long is it untill you have to take PADI again?

How many times a year do you have to take a PADI refresher course if you don’t dive during that time?

Technically, once you are certified, you are certified for life.

PADI recommends that if you haven’t been diving in a few months that you should take a refresher course. It really comes down to how much diving did you do before your inactivity, and how long has you inactive period been.

For example, I have around 1,000 dives, and my wife has aboud 1,500 dives; however, neither one of us have been diving in over 12 months. We didn’t think a refresher course could help us (technically, I can teach them), but we did go spend about an hour in the pool just playing around adn practicing a couple skills.

If you just got certified, but you haven’t been diving in about 6 months, I would highly recommend the refresher course.

If it has been a year or two since your certification and you didn’t do any dives other than the check-out dives, I would highly recommend that you re-take the OW class.
