How long does it usually take to learn to scuba dive?
Depends on what you mean by “learn to scuba dive”.
If you are going for a PADI Open Water Certification, then you can expect a few hours of “academic work” (reading a book, watching a video, answering questions on a test), 2-4 confined water dives (think pool), demonstrating your skills, then 4 open water dives, demonstrating your skills.
It will take a few days at any rate. If you go to a dive shop at a resort or something, then you can do it all over the course of 2-3 days. Or you can do a “referral course” at a local dive shop. They have classes and confined water dives, and then you can take the card to a dive shop to do the open water dives.
