Which water bottle will keep my water cold longer?
The main two I’m looking at are the Polar Bottle (http://www.polarbottle.com/) and the Elite Nanogelite Thermal (http://www.amazon.com/Elite-Nanogelite-Thermal-500ml-16-9oz/dp/B001FTL3IS/ref=sr_1_19?ie=UTF8&s=sporting-goods&qid=1249713999&sr=1-19)
I know the Polar Bottle holds more and costs less, but I want to know which insulates better. Thanks in advance!
Thermos. Not the crappy ones from China they’ve been selling for the last few years, but the ones your parents and grandparents hauled all over to the factories.
The new ones are absolute crap. No insulation, just a cheap metal clone of the plastic stuff you send kids to school with. The older ones, though, are heavy as he** because they are filled with charcoal insulation between the inner and outer walls. Those old Thermoses keep stuff really hot or really cold for HOURS, even in cold or hot climates. If you find one, hold on to it, they are AWESOME. The ones they sell on the Thermos web site are the new crappy ones, too, so that sucks.
Between the two you’ve selected, though, the gel is crap. It’s just ice substitute that will melt like crazy in the heat. I’d go with the Polar, if you’ve set your mind to one of those. That gel stuff is nonsense. They sell those bottles in the Dollar Store, for instance, that’s how bad that idea is.
One thing to keep in mind is how often you’ll need to replace parts, and how available those parts will be in 5 to 10 years when you need them. The links on the Polar Water Bottle page, for instance, don’t bring up anything about the water bottle itself, just the main page to the stores, which don’t seem to stock that bottle at all, let alone any parts.
Oh never mind, the Polar water bottle is just a double walled bottle with nothing in between. It’s junk. It has NO INSULATING PROPERTIES. It relies on the cold of the inside product to keep the bottle itself cold, so the stuff inside is going to be warm within a couple of hours at most. It’s really, really crap. Avoid. They couldn’t even be bothered to fill the space between the inside and outside wall with even the cheapest insulating product.
Hahahah… “Polar Bottles do not contain Bisphenol-A (BP-A), a potentially toxic compound.” Yeah, maybe because they don’t contain ANYTHING, any compound, just air??
