What’S On: Uk Sports 2010
Whatever your favourite sport is, there are hundreds of events taking place in Britain during 2010 to keep you amused.
The main talking point is likely to be the World Cup in South Africa. England are the only British team to be represented and with a group consisting of USA, Algeria and Slovenia, the Three Lions will be confident of progressing to the knock out stages before the English press gets overly excited about the team’s chances of winning the tournament.
April is athletics time as the Virgin London Marathon puts its best foot forward on Sunday 25th. European Badminton Championships are held in Manchester and the well-known boat race between the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge is held on Saturday 3rd April. This will be the 156th race to be held as the legacy continues as strong as ever. More activities follow in April for horse racing fans as the Aintree Grand National and Scottish Grand National get off with a bang.
June is the time for cricket and there are several test matches taking place across the United Kingdom throughout the month and further into the summer. Last year England reclaimed the Ashes and this summer the Australians return for a five match one-day series. Bangladesh and Pakistan will also be touring with six tests planned as well as a number of ODIs.
Get yourself to Silverstone in June if you fancy taking in the MotoGP. Also on the motor racing front is the British Touring Car Championship, held at Oulton Park and Croft.
Another few big name events are held in June. The Royal Ascot horse races are mid-month and the world-famous Wimbledon Tennis Championships begin at the end of June and continue into July. After Andy Murray reached the final of the Australian Open hopes for the Scot will be high and Henman Hill will again be taken over by northern supporters.
As July is a summer month the likelihood of good weather increases and the St Andrews Golf Open begins. Further south the Southport Women’s British Golf Open tees off.
Motorcycling in Cardiff takes a turn for the better with the British Speedway Grand Prix, and July sees more action at Silverstone as the British Grand Prix gets started. Motorcycling events continue into August with the Superbikes event at Donington Park and September heralds the start of the British Touring Car Championship at Knockhill.
If you fancy taking a break to watch some of your favourite sporting events then why not make the most of your time off and look into coach trips, which get you from A to B without any hassle?
Driving across the UK and finding your way around can be stressful and taking a coach trip would mean you get to sit back and enjoy the journey without having to worry about any of the logistics.
